Antennas // 6m Band
6m Antennas.
The Magic Band — 50 MHz sporadic-E, TEP and solar-peak F2 built InnovAntennas' name, and the 6m LFA remains the reference low-noise Yagi.
They call 6m the Magic Band for a reason: 50 MHz can sit dead for days and then, in the space of minutes, open across an ocean. Summer sporadic-E seasons bring intense short-skip and multi-hop openings; around solar maximum, genuine F2 propagation appears; and between the two sit trans-equatorial paths and meteor scatter for the operators who know where to listen. No other band swings so hard between silence and spectacle.
The 6m band is where the LFA earned its reputation. G0KSC's closed-loop driven element was proven here — because on 50 MHz, openings are dug out of the local noise floor, and the LFA's rejection of off-axis and man-made noise routinely hears workable DX that a conventionally fed Yagi buries in hash. The direct 50 Ω feed, with no matching device to detune, holds that performance in real weather on real towers.
The 6m range is the deepest we make: from compact three-element designs for Es seasons to long-boom seven- and eight-element arrays for serious EME and weak-signal work.
