Antennas // 12m Band

12m Antennas.

The quiet high band at 24.9 MHz — 12m springs to life around solar maximum and rewards the stations equipped to catch it.

The 12m band is the most overlooked of the WARC allocations. For much of the solar cycle 24.9 MHz sits nearly silent, and then — as sunspot numbers climb — it opens into a superb DX band with 10m-like signal strengths and a fraction of 10m's crowding. No contests are held here, so when the band is open it belongs entirely to the DXers.

Equipping for 12m is a bet on the openings, and a monobander pays that bet off properly. Our 12m LFA designs are compact — the wavelength keeps even multi-element beams manageable — while the closed-loop feed keeps the receive quiet enough to catch the band coming open before the cluster spots do.
