OWL Antennas.
The OWL packs serious gain onto short booms — an Optimised Wideband Low impedance design for stations where space sets the limit.
The Optimised Wideband Low impedance Yagi starts from a deliberate trade. By designing the driven element for a low feedpoint impedance rather than a direct 50 Ω, the coupling between elements can be pushed much harder — extracting more gain per metre of boom than a 50 Ω design can reach — with the feed then brought back to 50 Ω through a simple, robust transformation.
In practice that means compact antennas that punch far above their boom length: right for small gardens and restricted sites, for portable and DXpedition work where every centimetre of packed length costs, and for tight stacking distances in multi-Yagi arrays where full-size booms simply will not fit.
True to the name, the optimisation is wideband — SWR and pattern stay stable across the operating range, so the compact format costs nothing in day-to-day usability.
