Antennas // 40m Band

40m Antennas.

Full-size gain at 7 MHz — rotatable 40m Yagis built around elements over twenty metres tip to tip, engineered to stay up.

The 40m band is the serious DX band after dark. When the high bands close, 7 MHz carries intercontinental paths right through the night, and in the major contests it is where winning scores are made or lost. Most operators settle for wire antennas here; a rotatable beam on 40m is a statement of intent, because everything about the band is big — full-size elements approach twenty metres from tip to tip, and the boom carries loads that would flatten a lightly built high-band Yagi.

That scale is exactly why the engineering matters. Our 40m designs pair the LFA's closed-loop driven element with tapered, truss-supported elements sized from wind-survival calculations rather than optimism. The closed loop earns its keep on receive too: 40m noise floors are punishing, and the LFA's rejection of off-axis and static noise makes marginal signals workable where a conventional feed hears only hash.

The range runs from compact two-element designs for a single-tower station through to full-size multi-element arrays built for serious contest and DXpedition work.
